Madison Kelly (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe) is an artist, musician, and kaiārahi/lead guide at Te Korowai o Mihiwaka Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Their Ōtepoti-based practice examines sensory interfaces across whakapapa, percussion, and field research. They are one half of post-punk improv project HŌHĀ, and regularly play percussion and taoka pūoro in collaborations with mates around Aotearoa.
Recent projects include Whāia te Taniwha (Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, 2025), Kōrero Huna with Luke Shaw (for Time of Waiting across Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū and Te Wai Ngutu Kākā, 2025), Paemanu: Awa Toi (Asia Pacific Triennial, QAGOMA 2024), Waulking Song (Soft Shell at Parnell Project Space, 2024), Spring Time is Heart-break: Contemporary Art in Aotearoa (Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, 2023), and TAUTIAKI HAPTIC (Dunedin Public Art Gallery, 2023).
Luke Shaw is an artist and musician based in Ōtautahi. Working primarily in sound, his work stretches across sculpture, moving image, installation and performance. Within his current research practice, he is interested in the politics of communication and instances of listening and (mis)hearing. He is currently lecturing in the Graphic Design department at the University of Canterbury’s Ilam School of Fine Arts. He is a facilitator at Paludal alongside fellow artists James Oram and Zina Swanson. He is also one-half of the Opawa 45s.
