Louise Menzies: Local Edition 25.07.12
The makeshift and improvised signs, in paint, on paper and card, that have appeared, disappeared, and sometimes lingered past their purpose around Christchurch, to announce relocations, annotate engineering statuses, protest decisions and soon, make up part of the immediate context for Menzies’ presentation. The artist’s family ties to the area have brought her back repeatedly since the two major earthquakes, and Local Edition: 25.07.12 is the first part of a longer project she will make in the city working with The Physics Room.
