Eye
to Eye
by David Cross
Performance at The Physics Room
5pm - 8pm, Thursday 11th July, 2002
Eye to Eye was an extended duration performance piece by Wellington
based artist David Cross. This piece was the latest in a series
of works the artist produced in Australia and New Zealand, exploring
the relationship between the body, abjection and sexuality. Working
at the intersection of performance, video and installation, Eye
to Eye examined the pleasure and pain of seeing, speculating on
new ways of understanding the body as a volatile entity.
David Cross is Senior Lecturer at The School of Fine Arts, Massey
University, Wellington. He has shown recently at the Australian
Centre of Contemporary Art, Melbourne and Perspecta 99 in Sydney
as well as the Adam Gallery, Wellington.
